This guide explains the physical construction and appearance of the options shown above. It does not provide treatment advice or activation instructions. If a requested combination is not listed, add it to the checkout Notes field. Our technicians will review it before production and contact you if clarification is required or the request cannot be made.

Upper/Lower Jaw

Choose which part of your mouth the appliance will be made for:

Upper Jaw:
Includes one appliance made for the upper jaw. A suitable upper impression or compatible scan is required.

Lower Jaw:
Includes one appliance made for the lower jaw. A suitable lower impression or compatible scan is required.

Upper & Lower Jaw:
Includes separate upper and lower appliances unless the product description identifies an integrated bimaxillary construction. Suitable records for both jaws are required. A bite registration may also be requested for an integrated bimaxillary product.

Color and appearance

Acrylic Color

Choose the color of the acrylic parts of the appliance. The public selector shows the shades that can be represented most clearly on screen. Additional available colors and multi-color placement can be requested in the checkout Notes field for compatible acrylic constructions.

Add Silver Glitter

Adds silver glitter to the selected acrylic color.

Ligature Color

Choose the color of the elastic ligatures fitted around the brackets. Available colors are shown in the selector.

Palate Design

Select the type of palatal coverage:

Full Palatal Plate

Uses a full acrylic plate across the palate of an upper appliance.

Horseshoe Palatal Plate

Uses a U-shaped acrylic plate with an open central palate area.

Add-ons

Headgear Tubes

Adds compatible metal tubes to the appliance for connection to a separately selected facebow. The facebow or headgear is not included unless it is selected separately.

Tongue Crib

Adds a wire-grid component behind the front teeth. Its exact shape and position depend on the selected appliance.

Reverse Pull Hooks

Adds metal attachment hooks in the product-specific standard position for connection to a compatible separately supplied reverse pull face mask.

Acrylic-Covered Labial Bow

Adds a clear acrylic covering to the visible front section of the labial wire.

Add Cheek Guards

Adds bilateral acrylic side shields to a compatible construction.

Extra-Thick Acrylic

Uses a thicker acrylic construction than the standard version. This adds material and may make the appliance feel bulkier.

Add Lip Bumper

Adds a U-shaped wire component with an acrylic-covered front section positioned in front of the lower teeth. Exact placement depends on the selected appliance.

Additional Expansion Screw

Adds another screw assembly and corresponding acrylic sectioning where the selected construction has sufficient space. Exact placement must be specified or confirmed before production.

Tongue Bead (Pearl)

Adds a small smooth bead to a wire component in the product-specific standard position.

If you don’t already have dental impressions or digital scans, select this option to receive our easy-to-use impression kit, complete with instructions.

The Van Beek Activator is a custom-made, removable acrylic appliance combining the upper and lower sections in one integrated construction. It is made to your existing bite.

Large acrylic lip shields extend across the upper and lower front teeth, behind the lips. These broad front sections and the integrated facebow give the Van Beek Activator its distinctive appearance.

The appliance is available with an open or closed central palate area. The open-palate version leaves this area uncovered, while the closed-palate version includes acrylic across it.

The facebow has long wire arms embedded in the acrylic and extending outward on both sides. This integrated facebow is included in the standard appliance. A high-pull head cap or cervical neck pad must be ordered separately.

The product photographs show optional headgear tubes. These are not included in the standard set and are supplied only when selected with your order.

3. Send Your Impressions to Us

After taking your impressions, send them to one of our return addresses – located in the USA, UK, or EU. We’ll guide you based on your location.

4. We Create Your Custom Product

Once we receive your impressions, our experienced dental technicians start crafting your order. Most products are ready within 10-20 business days of receiving your impressions.

5. Delivered to Your Door

We ship your finished product straight to your home. Worldwide shipping is available and tracking is always included.

    Eine wirklich tolle, aber sehr große und nicht gerade unauffällige Spange oder ein nicht nicht gerade “unauffälliger” Aktivator.
    Bein meinem Verbeek waren die Wunschmodifikationen Zungengitter und zusätzliche Wangenschilder – Wünsche, die ohne Schwierigkeiten umgesetzt werden konnten – Danke da für die gute Kommunikation mit dem Bracesshop-Team!
    Zum “Tragekomfort” :
    Ist der Vervbeek-Aktivator einmal eingesetzt, greift er recht restriktiv Ober- und Unterkiefer in Position, ein einfaches öffnen des Mundes ist nicht ohne weiteres mehr möglich – Sprechen unmöglich!
    Bisher habe ich es – in den 2 Wochen seit dem sich der Aktivator in meinem Besitz befindet, geschafft, ihn täglich bis zu 8 Stunden am Stück zu tragen aber bisher noch nicht im Außeneinsatz – das wird als nächstes in Angriff genommen, wenn die Tragezeit erhöht wird.

Frequently Asked Questions

For a custom-made appliance, suitable records are needed for each jaw required by the product and selected options. You may be able to use recent dentist-taken impressions, compatible intraoral scans, or suitable records retained from a previous order. If you do not have suitable records, add an impression kit to your order. Records are required before fabrication, not before checkout.

Upload clear photos through the customer portal before returning your impressions. We will review them and let you know if another impression is needed. The kit contains material for two attempts. If you need another kit, contact us about a discounted replacement.

Overall processing for most custom-made products usually takes approximately 10 to 20 business days after usable impressions or suitable scan files have been received. This includes fabrication and forwarding to the fulfillment center. Final delivery takes additional time depending on your destination and shipping method. These timeframes are estimates.

Email [email protected] with your order number, a description of the problem, and clear photos. We will review the case and explain the available options. Minor rework is normally free apart from applicable shipping. If a complete remake is needed, its cost depends on the cause and the case review.

In many cases, yes. Digital scans are archived, and physical impressions are generally stored for at least 1 to 2 years, subject to availability. Reuse depends on whether suitable records remain available and your teeth have not changed. Mention your previous order in checkout Notes so we can check.

Upload clear photos through the customer portal linked in your order-status emails. If you cannot use the portal, email the photos with your order number to [email protected]. After approval, you will receive the appropriate return instructions and address or return label. Please wait for these instructions before sending your impressions.

Orders delivered within the USA from our US fulfillment center or within the EU from Germany normally do not incur import duties within those regions. Other destinations may be subject to local customs fees or import taxes.
